Performance for Poets

Bring your carefully-crafted texts to life with this crash-course in scenic interpretation. In part 1, ‘the poet and the public’, you’ll make the leap from page to stage whilst avoiding the pitfalls of performance poetry; part 2 introduces a range of simple, practical tools you can use to find the voice your poems are crying out for; and in part 3 you’ll practice building a narrative around your texts, so you’re can stop ‘reading the words’ and get on with ‘telling the story’.

Speaking Truth to Power: a course in grassroots political debate

NordicStagecraft teams up with Communications Consultant Rhys Thomas to offer a programme of rhetorical training to activists of every political stripe. Learn how to speak with the force of your convictions, using logic, language and performance to inspire your listeners, challenge their prejudices, and change their minds. Come and explore what it is that makes a song meaningful with this course in lyric analysis and interpretation for singers. Discover what happens to your music when you delve deeper into the characters and stories that lay behind it, and find out how to bring them to life on the stage as you sing. Over the course of four sessions, A. J. Aguirre will introduce you to the techniques and methods of the songpoetic approach, drawing on the very latest research in the field of song performance.
